Architects of the human mouth
Prosthodontics is an advanced and specialized field of dentistry that focuses on the complexities of the mouth’s structure, function, and integration with the body. Prosthodontists generally work with implants and complex reconstruction and have advanced skills with prosthetic devices, or false teeth.
Due to their extra education and training, they often serve as the leader of patient care plans and dictate the course of treatment, while collaborating with other dental specialists such as oral surgeons, periodontists, and orthodontists.
Choosing a prosthodontist
There are several reasons you might choose a prosthodontist. Prosthodontists are highly skilled, and if your needs are at all complex, you might require that extra skill they’ve earned through specialization. Some people simply want the confidence of having a specialist, and others are in search of the aesthetics that come with precision. It always comes down to patient comfort and security, and no matter the practitioner, you should always feel safe and well cared for at all stages of your treatment.
At Prosthodontics of Texas, we treat patients across a broad spectrum of issues:
- Dental prosthetics (implants, crowns, etc.)
- Jaw disorders like TMD
- Traumatic injuries
